Caanries 2-3 Cadley

at Preston Sports Arena: 16th February 2012

Canaries let a 2 goal lead slip as they gifted Cadley 3 points in a desperately disappointing defeat.

Cadley made the brighter start, as Canaries looked sluggish in the opening 15 mins. However against the run of play, with their first real attack, returning top scorer Suliyman Baroot scored his 15th goal of the season, following good work from Toorawah. This was just the impetus Canaries needed, as they proceeded to dominate the match, with a series of attacks. Toorawah was looking particularly impressive, both in defensive and attacking mode. With Baroot, Ahmed and Uddin also looking in the mood, Canaries almost made it 2-0 as the trio all had good chances to extend the lead. Keeper Ohemeng and the Canaries defence were hardly called upon.

Canaries came into the break with the solitary goal but in reality should have had more as they completely dominated.

The second half started much the same as Canaries looked in total control, confidently playing the ball around and causing the visitors all sorts of problems. A second soon came, as Baroot again finished confidently, following some great work by Uddin. Cadley were stung into action as they finally tested Ohemeng from long range. Back came Canaries attacking with purpose as Baroot, Uddin and Toorawah had further opportunities to put the game to bed. The defence of Lulat, Dittar, Ahmed and Haji were dealing with most of the attacks from Cadley, as Tatley and Otutu kept the midfield ticking along.

From out of the blue Cadley pulled one back from a bullet header but Canaries still pressed with substitute Hafeji linking up well with Baroot. Cadley, however were now gaining confidence. As the last 10 mins approached, Canaries looked likely to see the game out, however 2 quick goals from Cadley stunned Canaries, as hestitation in the Canaries defence allowed Cadley to take all 3 points.

It was a quite unbelievable turnaround, as Canaries threw away a game they had completely dominated. Their failure to see out the game and profligacy in front of goal cost them dearly. A desperately disappointing result, which could come back to haunt Canaries at the end of the season.

MOTM - Aamir Toorawah - terrorised Cadley throughout the game, was disciplined when he had to defend and unlucky not to have scored a couple.
