Canaries 1-2 New Meadow Street

at Preston Sports Arena: 27th November 2011

Canaries suffered an undeserved defeat after a spirited performance and missed chances left them cursing their luck. Following a nervy start. Canaries got into their stride, with new boy Gregorio Rundindi looking assured in defence and Mo Lulat showing a real desire and energy. Some fine link up between Ahmed, Kalang, Webb and Toorawah saw a few half chances created. Tatley, making his first start of the season, and Otutu struck up an instant understanding as they controlled the midfield. The first clear cut chance saw Ahmed shoot wide with only the keeper to beat, as half time approached.

The second half began in the same fashion, as both teams cancelled each other out. Midway through the second half, Toorawah had a great chance to open the scoring, as he went through on goal with only the keeper to beat but struck his shot too close to the keeper who made a good save. The miss proved costly, as Meadow St struck after a slip by Tufail Ahmed let in the opposition midfielder to round Ohemeng and slot the ball home.

The opposition barely had a chance to celebrate when sub Mo Ali beat the offside trap to square for Otutu to tap home to amke it 1-1. The game looked to be heading for a draw, when Meadow St. struck the cruel blow, as Canaries failed to close down, allowing the opposition to seal victory with a low shot in the corner. It was tough on Canaries as a much improved performance saw them left disappointed.

MOTM - Mo Lulat - showed real drive, energy and determination but couldn't prevent Canaries from slipping to a defeat.
