Penwortham Town 3-4 Canaries
Sunday 20th November 2011
Canaries secured a first win in 5 games after a determined display saw off Penwortham Town in a topsy turvy encounter. Canaries started off brightly with Toorawah and Webb forcing good saves from the opposition keeper. The breakthrough finally came when a free kick was nodded down for captain Ahmed to lash the ball home. A second soon followed, as Otutu drove home from outside of the area. Mo Ali, making his first start of the season showed some good link up play with Webb, as Hafeji bossed the midfield. Saj Kalang was looking in the mood as he delivered some superb crosses. At the other end Ohemeng had to be alert as he pushed a shot onto the post following hesitation in defence. The home side were soon back in the game, as Penwortham Town pulled one back on the stroke of half time.
The home side came out in the second half more determined as they forced the pressure. Canaries were visibly tiring and it was no surprise when the equaliser came as more hesitation from Canaries allowed Penwortham to score. It seemed a case of deja-vu from the previous week when Penwortham Town scored yet again to lead 3-2.
This time however, there was to be no collapse, as Canaries showed real character, when sub Mal combined with Toorawah to allow Webb to bundle home the equaliser 10 mins from time. Canaries weren't finished yet, as they sensed a winner. As time was beginning to run out, Hafeji split open the Penwortham defence with a superb pass to allow Webb to grab a dramatic winner.
MOTM - Suleman Hafeji - showed great energy and drive as he inspired Canaries to victory and 3 valuable points.
